Reception – Saint George
Saint George was a Roman soldier and Christian martyr who is remembered for his courage and strong faith. He is most famous for the legend of Saint George and the dragon, which symbolises the victory of good over evil. Although this story is symbolic, it reflects his bravery and commitment to standing up for what is right. He is the patron saint of England and continues to be a powerful example of courage and faith.

Year 1 – Saint John Paul II
Saint John Paul II was Pope from 1978 to 2005 and was one of the most influential leaders of the Catholic Church. Born in
Poland, he experienced great hardship during his early life, which strengthened his faith. He travelled across the world, sharing messages of peace, dignity, and hope. He had a special love for young people and encouraged them to live
with purpose and faith, reminding them that they could make a difference in the world.

Year 2 – Saint Teresa of Calcutta
Saint Teresa of Calcutta, also known as Mother Teresa, dedicated her life to serving the poorest and most vulnerable people. She founded the Missionaries of Charity, who continue her work around the world today. She believed that every person has dignity and should be treated with love and respect. Her life is a powerful example of compassion, humility, and selfless service.

Year 3 – Saint Josephine Bakhita
Saint Josephine Bakhita was born in Sudan and endured great suffering after being kidnapped into slavery as a child. After gaining her freedom, she became a religious sister in Italy. Despite her difficult past, she chose forgiveness and devoted her life to serving God and helping others. Her story is one of resilience, hope, and the transforming power of faith.

Year 4 – Saint Oscar Romero
Saint Oscar Romero was the Archbishop of San Salvador who became known for his courage in speaking out against injustice. He defended the poor and vulnerable and called for peace during a time of violence and oppression in his country. His commitment to truth and justice ultimately led to his martyrdom. He is remembered as a powerful witness to faith and justice.

Year 5 – Saint Thérèse of Lisieux
Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, often called the 'Little Flower', lived a simple life as a Carmelite nun in France. She is known for her 'little way', which teaches that holiness can be found in small, everyday actions done with great love. Her spirituality shows that everyone can grow closer to God through kindness, patience, and trust.

Year 6 – Saint Martin de Porres
Saint Martin de Porres was born in Peru and is remembered for his humility and compassion. He worked as a healer and cared for the poor, the sick, and even animals. Despite facing discrimination, he lived a life of service and kindness. He reminds us to treat all people with dignity and to care for all of God’s creation.
